Paul Harrington, General Manager of Erne Paddlers, was joined by Simon Harron, Community Champion at Asda Enniskillen, as part of the recent clean-up and litterpicking efforts along the Erne as part of a county-wide initiative.

With help from the Erne Paddlers, officers from the PSNI and other community-minded groups and indivisuals, Simon helped pick up two trolleys from the waters as well as 10 bags of rubbish that had been dumped along the shores of Lough Erne.

Speaking after the event, he said: “It was fantastic to see everyone come together to clean up the local beauty spot and it was a privilege to be part of this vital community initiative.

“This has definitely inspired the team at Asda Enniskillen to carry out another litter pick in the near future as it has such a great impact on the local community.”

Details of ‘Big Help Out’ events, as well as other local volunteering opportunities, will be advertised on community boards in Asda stores and customers can also download the ‘Big Help Out’ app to find out more about how they can help volunteer to support their local communities.
