Lisnaskea father and son duo Leo and Luke Swift have raised a staggering £25,300 for the Cancer Fund for Children after completing a fundraising skydive in memory of Sharon Swift, a beloved wife and mother.

Sharon sadly passed away on April 10, 2021, following a four-year battle with breast cancer.

In her memory, and to commemorate the second anniversary of her passing, Sharon’s husband, Leo, and son Luke (18) completed the skydive on April 2 in Garvagh.

“It was just something I wanted to do, me and my son together, to mark Sharon’s anniversary,” said Leo, adding: “Originally, I hadn’t thought to do fundraising, I was just going to put in a few pounds myself, but then Luke set up the fundraising page to raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children.

“We just can’t believe the amount of money raised.”

Explaining that neither he nor his son had done a skydive before, Leo said: “It was grand, no bother! And it didn’t take a flinch out of Luke.

“You were strapped on to somebody, but I’d like to do it again someday, on my own maybe.”

Grateful for the fundraising support, Leo said: “We just want to acknowledge the overwhelming support received from the local community to enable us to raise £25,300.

“This [amount] was reached from online donations and cash donations from customers of Frank’s Bar, friends and family.

“We would like to thank everyone in our local community for their support.”
