The death has taken place peacefully of Kathleen Weir at her home at Lack.

Kathleen was born on June 19, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Ellen Weir, Cronien, Lack, and was the last surviving daughter of four girls.

She lived all her life at Cronien and worked on the small farm. She loved outdoor life and was happy when she was painting and in the garden. She also liked baking.

She was blessed with good health up until about four years ago when she developed dementia. Most times she was fairly content and was able to stay in her own home and liked to go out in the car with her daughter Mary.

Her health began to deteriorate in the last few months and she was lovingly cared for in her own home by Mary and the professional care of doctors and district nurses.

She passed away on November 28, 2016, with Mary and Victor by her side. Kathleen’s remains were conveyed from her late home on December 1 to Ardess Church where the funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Philip Bryson. The hymns were Amazing Grace, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah, and There is a Happy Land.

There was also a solo by Johnathan Milligan entitled Precious Memories.

Burial was in the adjoining graveyard. Kathleen was predeceased by her sisters, Molly, Sarah and Ellen.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Directors, F.G. McFarland and Sons, Kesh.
