A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Wallace, wife of Jim Wallace, Ballinamallard, passed away peacefully at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen, on March 28, 2018.

Formerly Lyons, Mary was born on August 13, 1951. She was the youngest daughter of Annabella and Samuel Lyons, from Mountjoy, Omagh and had two older siblings: James and Joan.
Mary attended Omagh High School, before beginning her working life in a shirt factory in Omagh. She later became a nursing auxiliary in Omagh General Hospital.
She met Jim Wallace at a TA dinner dance in Omagh in November 1974. The pair were married in Mountjoy Presbyterian Church on March 6, 1976 and lived in Dromore, where they had four children: Billy, Gillian, Linda and Vicki.
The family moved to Ballinamallard in 1993.
There’s was a happy home, where faith and family came first.
Mary lived for her children and was delighted to see the arrival of 13 grandchildren, some of whom she babysat later on in her life.
A modest woman who enjoyed the simple things in life, Mary’s door was always open and a warm welcome was guaranteed to all who called, as well as a cup of tea and sticky bun.
She enjoyed trips into town, where she took pleasure in pottering around the shops and going for a coffee. Mary also enjoyed many family holidays abroad, in particular, she thoroughly enjoyed travelling to Australia in 2013 to see her daughter Vicki.
Mary loved country and western music and got great comfort from gospel music throughout many of life’s hardships.
Mary battled and overcome cancer in 2003 to 4 but the disease returned last year and Mary was cared for in her home by her husband and children. Trips to hospital became a regular feature of her life but she bore her illness with great dignity, never once complaining.
Always a happy and bubbly person, Mary put her family before herself and this shone through when she was battling her illness.
A faithful member of Magheracross Parish Church, Mary’s strong faith carried her through her illness and her family are indebted to Dean Kenneth Hall, Archdeacon Brian Harper and Olive Nixon (pastoral care) whose visits to Mary at home and in hospital were a great source of comfort and strength.
Mary passed away on March 28 in the South West Acute Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Her funeral service was held in Magheracross Parish Church, Ballinamallard on March 31, presided over by Archdeacon Brian Harper, with burial afterwards in Craghan Cemetery.
S.R. Elliott were the funeral directors and donations in lieu of flowers went to the palliative care team.
Mary is greatly missed by her husband Jim; son Billy and daughter-in-law Andrea Wallace; daughter Gillian and son-in-law Tony Brynes; daughter Linda and son-in-law Brian McCleery; daughter Vicki and son-in-law Stewart Robinson; her 13 grandchildren; and her brother James and sister Joan.
