Lisbellaw United 9 Enniskillen Santos 3

Lisbellaw fired nine goals past Enniskillen Santos to maintain their division one title challenge. Five first half goals without reply had put the outcome beyond doubt, and a second half Lee Glass hat-trick completed the rout to leave Lisbellaw eight points adrift of league leaders Tummery Athletic with five games in hand.
Victory in three of those five outstanding matches would be enough to overhaul the current leaders, but despite Lisbellaw’s good current run of form manager Andy Reilly is trying to play down any talk of the title.
“I see us as the outsiders,” he said. “Tummery have the points on the board and Strathroy have the experience of the run in. We’ve the much harder fixtures remaining out of the three so we will just take it one game at a time.”
Lisbellaw had their winning streak ended in disappointing fashion the previous Saturday when they exited the Irish Junior Cup at the hands of Rosemount Rec, but the manager was delighted with the response of his team as they overwhelmed their opponents in the first 45 minutes.
“Although I was disappointed at our performance in the second half I was delighted at how we went about our business in the first half,” he said. “We had a few wrongs to right from last week and certainly did that and more. The players deserve great credit for that.”
Lisbellaw’s desire to return to winning ways was evident right from the kick off, as they dominated the early exchanges of the match. It did not take them long to turn their superiority into goals, with defender Matty Woods heading in the first goal of the game, and then repeating the feat moments later to open up a two goal advantage. Midfielder Kyle McCleery then added a third with a powerful strike giving the keeper no chance, and Tiernan Magee got in on the act when he slotted past the keeper. Just before the half time interval Davy Little netted with a well taken free kick to give the home team a five goal lead.
The goals continued to flow in the second half with Tiernan Magee heading in and then Lee Glass grabbing his first of the game. With the game well beyond their reach Santos finally showed some life and scored three quick fire goals. Strikes from Jason Keenan, manager Joe Keenan and an own goal narrowed the deficit, but Lee glass ensured Lisbellaw finished the way they had started, scoring twice in the closing minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Santos player-manager Joe Keenan admits it side endured one of those days.
"It was just one of those days when nothing went right for us and everything they hit went in. We got off to a bad start to the game and then we had a bad finish. We'll just look to put this game behind us and focus on the cup this week," said Keenan.
