Christchurch bowler Rodney Kelly has won this year’s Mullaghdun Singles title after defeating William Harpur in an entertaining final.
After overcoming Malcolm Cunningham, Karol Bradshaw and Eugene Rooney en route to the final, Kelly was not to be denied although he needed a tied end to come out on top.
It was William who was to race into an early lead of 11 shots to 5 with only two ends remaining. But counts of 4 and 2 over the last two ends ensured that a tied end was going to be required to separate the two Western players, and Kelly made no mistake by chalking up the single shot he needed to claim this year’s title.
