There were some great performances by the Enniskillen Running Club juniors who competed in the Ulster schools E districts Track and Field championships at the Antrim Forum last Friday.

All secondary schools in counties Cavan, Tyrone, Fermanagh and South Donegal make up E District so to qualify is an achievement in itself. The target was to make the top three to compete in the Ulster finals in a fortnight’s time at the same venue.

First up were the mini girls where Sophia Williams of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School had a great win in the 800m. She was followed by Anna Gillespie from MLE in silver position. In the junior girls 800m Ava Thompson of Devenish raced well to qualify in second. Her younger brother Ethan went one better to win the mini boys 100m.

The sprinters at ERGS, Devenish and Mount Lourdes all performed well with Grace Ralph making the final only to narrowly miss out in qualifying.

Edel Monaghan, who is now in her final year, won the senior girls’ 3,000m. Edel doubled up to run the 1,500m and qualified in second.
