Lisnaskea 10k Runners competed in high temperatures last Saturday with 144 entries for the 10K, up to 15 runners for the 5K and up to 50 children for the 3K. All competitors received medals and t-shirts for the entrants of the 10K and 5K.

Bryans 53:12; Tina Gallagher 55:17 Under 19: Aaron Hall 42:11; Shaye McCaffrey 46:20; Darragh McCabe 52:20 The local GAA club, the residents of the Barnlee Home and the local primary schools all participated in this year’s event with this year being the first year that the residents of the Barnlee Home took part by completing the 3K ‘Birdie’ Walk.

The newly appointed Chairman of Fermanagh Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann, blew the klaxon horn to start each of the three events and presented all the competitors with their medals at the finishing line and the category winners with their trophies. In his remarks prior to the start of the race he commended the local community of Lisnaskea for their support and participation in the event – this year proved to be an all-inclusive event.

The Lisnaskea Community Run and Walk was organised by the Upper Lough Erne Tourism Group which expresses its sincere thanks to all the competitors, to the many volunteers who provided marshalling along the route and supervising the water stations; to the PSNI for traffic control along the main street of the town; to St John’s Ambulance for its medical assistance; to the members of the Lisnaskea Womens’ Group, the Cherry Tree Bakery and Ms Mena McManus and Carmel for the provision of refreshments for all competitors and their supporters; to the staff of the Castle Park Centre for their invaluable assistance on the day; to the sponsors – Fermanagh Omagh District Council, Wilson Insurance Brokers, the Kissin’Krust Café and the Oak Healthy Living which provided equipment and assistance in preparation for the 10K.
