A young rugby star with strong Fermanagh roots played a key role as Campbell College won rugby’s Danske Bank Schools’ Cup final at the Kingspan stadium on Monday.
Dara Gaskin is the son of Alan Gaskin and Cora Concannon. Cora is originally from Killynure in Enniskillen and now lives in Belfast. She is the daughter of Pat Concannon and the late Angela Concannon.
Dara scored the opening try for Campbell in their hard fought 19-13 win over Royal School Armagh to give them their first Schools’ Cup win since 2011.
Dara’s performance was all the more remarkable given that he is only a fifth year student and will have two more years to play at this level.
Dara spends much of his summer in his mother’s native Enniskillen and is Junior Captain of Enniskillen Golf Club for 2018 where the talented sportsman plays throughout the summer. Cora Concannon was a former Junior Irish international golfer herself.
On a good weekend for Irish rugby, Dara would look to have a bright future in the game.
