Tempo 0-09 Roslea 1-11

Roslea closed to within one point of second placed Kinawley at the top end of Division One thanks to a five point victory away to bottom placed Tempo on Sunday.
It rounded off a good weekend for Peter McGinnity’s charges as they picked up maximum points from their two games having defeated Devenish on Friday night.
For Tempo, it is now looking unlikely that they will be able to climb out of the bottom four and avoid the relegation play-offs. Sean Breen’s side currently sit four points adrift of fifth bottom Devenish with only three games left in the campaign.
The Maguires had held a two point advantage at half time but they were wasteful in front of the posts and a more clinical Roslea made them pay for this in the second half.
The Shamrocks were quickly back on level terms and after Sean Quigley found the net there only looked to be the one winner as Roslea went on to secure the points.
And it was a win that pleased McGinnity.
“We had a good weekend and we’ve moved further up the table. I suppose given that we were playing two teams in the bottom half of the table it was games that we would have been fancied to win but it hasn’t always went that way for us so we’re happy to have won both of them. I thought on Sunday that there wasn’t much between the sides but we were maybe that bit more clinical,” said McGinnity.
Breen on the other hand rued his side’s inability to take the chances that came their way.
“We squandered a lot of chances and didn’t make the most of the ball that we had,” said Breen, who accepted that mistakes are costing his side.
“We need to cut out the silly mistakes. It was another game were we turned the ball over and we got punished with a goal.
“We have Irvinestown, Devenish and Belleek left and we’ll just look to take it one game at a time,” he commented.
Tempo had performed well in the opening stages of the game and with a slight breeze at their backs they went in at the interval with a 0-07 to 0-05 lead.
Daryl Keenan, Niall McCusker, Ryan Bogue and Aidan Breen all landed points for the Maguires while for Roslea the Quigley brothers Seamie and Sean as well as Niall Cosgrove chipped in with points.
Roslea though started the second half on the front foot and with Sean Quigley again among the points they quickly levelled up the contest at 0-07 apiece.
It was nip and tuck over the next period but the game swung in Roslea’s favour when they grabbed the only goal of the contest.
This came from a Tempo attack but the Maguires turned over the ball and when it was played long, Sean Quigley picked up the break and managed to lift it over Matthew Jackson in the Tempo goal.
The sides did trade points after this but Sean Quigley and James McMahon landed late scores to see Roslea to a five point win at the conclusion.
