Dunmurray Rec II 3 Enniskillen Town 6

Seamie Quigley grabbed all six goals as Enniskillen Town progressed through to Round Two of the Junior Cup with a comfortable 6-3 win away to Dunmurray Rec II on Saturday.

Quigley was in imperious form for Rory Judge’s side as he bagged a hat-trick in either half to ease Town through.

The striker’s goals helped Town into a 3-2 half time lead and although the home side equalised early in the second half, Town responded with three more goals from Quigley to seal the win.

With a six goal haul, it was hard for Quigley not to impress the manager but Judge felt he was one of a number of players who shone on the day.

“Listen, any man who scores will rightly grab the headlines but I thought Sarto Quigley and Conall Quinn were equally good for us on the day. They were very good,” he said.

Judge though was less pleased with his side’s defending as they conceded three goals.

“Defensively we were poor at times and we conceded a couple of bad goals but we were missing a few players at the back which doesn’t help that.

“In saying that we were never in any danger of losing the game and we are pleased to have made it through,” he added.

The Town boss has strengthened his squad over the summer with the additions of the likes of the two Quigleys and Quinn and he thinks they are stronger than they were last season but he accepts he won’t have a proper idea of where they are really at until November.

“We’ve only played one league game so far so it’s probably going to take until November, when we have had a string of games behind us, to know where we are at. I do think though that we are a different proposition to last season,” he stated.

Town had started the game well and they went on to take the lead when a neat move saw Quinn feed Sarto Quigley and he pulled the ball back to the edge of the box for Seamie Quigley to open his account with a crisp strike.

The home side hit back to level up the contest but Town responded with Quigley grabbing his second, lobbing the ball over the keeper from a Frank Wallace through ball.

And he completed his hat-trick with a well struck free kick that went in off the post.

Dunmurray pulled another goal back before the break to leave it 3-2 and the home side then equalised after the interval from the penalty spot with William Simpson red carded after giving away the spot kick.

At this stage Town may have looked in bother but within two minutes they had added their fourth to reclaim the lead and Quigley then struck twice in the latter stages of the game to finish up with six goals as Town clinched a 6-3 win.

This Saturday Town will be hoping to continue their bright start to the season when they host Strathroy Harps at the Lakeland Forum.
