Knocks Duathlon attracts top athletes both local and further afield; basking in glorious autumn weather, with perfect conditions prevailing the Knocks was splashed with club colours from around the county.

This year Micheal Reilly, a seasoned Duathlon eventer with an All-Ireland placing under his belt , stormed through the Knocks countryside to take the first Male Prize, an equally impressive Aoibheann Bartley for the third year picked up the first Ladies Prize of Galway Crystal .

Shane McGovern , Andrew Green, Ronan Campbell, Paul Carron ,Eddie Sherry and Ronan King all formed a tight competitive field with McGovern being an impressive second in the Solo event losing out to the winner Reilly.

The Knocks were well represented with strong performance by local men Kieran McGrory, Brian Fitzpatrick, Martin Carey and evergreen Eamon Lyman in the solo Category.

Local “Family Team”, ‘The Ginners’ of O’Reilly, on the Bike and McGrath as Runner lifted their first Trophy.

The Speedsters winning Event Team of Boylan (cycle) and Davis (runner) completed the route also.

A strong field engaged in what is now a well organised and established Event in the Knocks and seen by many as a Trial run for Fearmanagh Endurance Event which takes place this weekend.

The Knocks Event is open to competitive participants or families who enjoy the challenge or social occasion, both being provided with BBQ food and banter of the day’s event.
