The fourth annual Walk/Jog/Run for Oisín was held in beautiful conditions on Sunday, October 14 as over 800 participants descended on Belcoo to out themselves through the paces over the 5km and 10km routes.

Runners and walkers would have been forgiven for being apprehensive about conditions for the run after the deluge of rain that fell on Saturday, however blue skies and favourable temperatures soon put that to bed.

Runners from near and far took on the challenging routes with people of all levels of exercise pounding the roads for a great cause.

With the warm up courtesy of Jungle Body by Elaine getting everybody well loosened up and creating a buzz the runners made their way to the starting line.

In the 10km run, Stephen Cassidy of Enniskillen Running Club crossed the line in first place with a time of 34.05. Paul McGrath of Belcoo came in second with Belleek's Ciaran Smyth in third place.

Paula Donnelly was the first female to finish in a time of 41.38 with Mary Jones and Ciara Tierney in second and third respectively.

In the 5km, Oisin Cassidy ran a time of 18.05 to finish top of the pile, while Cliodhna Martin took the female first prize with a time 22.41.

Speaking about the success of this year's event, Oisín's mother, Sharon McGrath said: "The fourth Walk/Jog/Run for Oisín 2018 was another amazing success with around 545 runners and well over 300 walkers.

"The annual event allows us to gather together to remember Oisín and to spend time with our families and the community. This event brings everyone together young and old, elite runners, first time runners and walkers - everyone is welcome.

"Oisín was taken from us too soon but is very much remembered today and every day. His light shines on and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helps us keep his memory alive.

"Organ donation awareness is at the heart of Oisín's Foundation, because of him six people were given the gift of life. We encourage everyone to have that conversation with their families and sign the donor register."
