Tummery Athletic 2 Willowbank 1
Tummery Athletic came from a goal down to defeat Willowbank in their Junior Cup semi-final tie at Stangmore Park tonight.
The win sends the Dromore side through to a first ever Junior Cup final where they will meet Enniskillen Rangers conquerors Bessbrook United on Monday May 6 at the National Stadium at Windsor Park.
Tummery had started the brighter of ther sides and the lively Emmet McNabb forced a good save out of Willowbank goalkeeper Ciaran Kelly.
However, it was Willowbank who were to draw first blood as they took the lead in the 43rd minute.
A well worked move saw Christopher Heaney play the ball into the box to the feet of striker Thomas McCrory and he laid a lovely pass back into Heaney's path with the full back firing low to the net to leave it 1-0 at half time.
It was all Tummery after the break though and the pressure told in the 65th minute as Cathal Beacom got on the end of an inviting cross from the left by Aidy McCaffrey to glance the ball into the corner.
Tummery continued to push forward after this with Emmet McNabb and Ruairi Sludden looking threatening and it was no surprise that the pair linked up for the winner in the 85th minute.
McNabb slipped a lovely ball into Sludden on the right hand side of the box and he produced a composed finish to make it 2-1.
And Gerry Love's side comfortable saw out the remainder of the tie to book their place in the final and to keep their treble hopes alive.
