Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 seen players from the Western Zone represent Ireland in the ‘A’ Series of the British Isles Championship, which was played at Aberdeen Indoor Bowling Club.

Patricia Bradshaw, Michael McGrade and Karol Bradshaw from Donagh played together in the triples and Stuart Cochrane from Tempo was playing in the skip position of the team event.

Patricia, Michael and Karol won their three games beating M McSkimming triple from Scotland 20-8 and E Weaver triple from England 29-5. Their last game was a tighter affair against C Davies’s triple from Wales which was 9-9 each after 12 ends played but the Western triple kept their heads and won 14-12 to lift the cup for Ireland.

In the team event Stuart skipped his rink to six incredible wins to help secure the Team Title of the ‘A’ Series of the British Isles Championship. Congratulations from Western Zone to the four players who did Ireland and especially Western Zone proud.

In the main series of the British Isles Championship, congratulations goes to Raymond Stubbs who plays for Ballinderry (Lisburn Zone) and Christchurch, Maguiresbridge played his part as a skip of his rink to secure the team title for Ireland.
