There were a number of excellent performances in both the team and individual sections by local runners at Tuesday’s E-District Cross Country Championships at Necarne.

Once again, St. Michael’s dominated the Boys team events, lifting gold in the Mini, Minor, Junior, and Intermediate sections while they also took silver in the Senior.

In the Mini Boys St.Michael’s claimed a one-two-three through Sean Corry, Tiarnan McManus and Jack Mulally while Enniskillen Royals Adam Cathcart was fourth.

The Minor Boys saw St. Kevin’s Lisnaskea runner Ben Warnock take the gold while St. Michael’s duo Frank Buchanan and Conor Mulligan were second and third respectively.

Patrick Williams produced a great run to take silver in the Junior Boys, helping his school, Enniskillen Royal to the same colour of medal in the team event while St Michael’s Owen O’Donnell was their highest finisher in third position.

And in the Senior Boys there was further success for St Michael’s with Oisin Cassidy coming home second to take the silver medal.

Mount Lourdes were another to enjoy great team success on the day. They took team gold in the Mini Girls, Minor Girls and Intermediate Girls with Enniskillen Royal silver in the Intermediate.

The Mini Girls race saw Mount Lourdes runners Kellie McAnespie, Zara Welsh and Ciara O’Donnell all finished in the top ten as they took gold while in the Minor Girls Mount Lourdes trio Abigail Boyd, Aoibhin Kelly and Niamh Boyd were third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Shannon Clawson of Mount Lourdes clinched bronze in the Junior Girls ahead of Enniskillen Royals Cathy Fallis in fourth while Sophia Williams secured bronze in the Intermediate Girls race.
