HW Welders 1 Ballinamallard Utd 2

Ballinamallard Utd climbed back into second place in the Bluefin Sport Championship as they came from behind to take the points against HW Welders on Wednesday night.

The victory also moves Harry McConkey's side closer to leaders Portadown with six points now separating the teams and the Mallards having a game in hand.

The Ducks started the game positively with Mark Hannon rattling the crossbar before Ryan Mayse was denied by the home keeper with Darragh McBrien firing the rebound over the bar.

However, It was Welders who were to go in at the break with the lead as Adam Wright headed home at the back post.

The Mallards had a strong penalty shout early in the second half when Ryan O'Reilly appeared to be hauled down in the box but the referee was unmoved.

However, the equaliser did arrive as Ryan Campbell latched on to a long throw and fired home.

And the away side were to go on and take the lead as Chris Kelly got on the end of a knockdown by Josh McIlwaine to slam to the net.

The home side did go close to snatching a draw but it was their turn to be denied by the woodwork as the Mallards collected three crucial points.
