Lockdown has been tough for many but for 12 year old Dylan McCleery he has focused his time on producing some great running achievements.

Ballinamallard lad Dylan has just finished his first year in Devenish College, Enniskillen, having previously been a pupil at Queen Elizabeth II Primary School in Kilskeery.

During his first year, he started participating in running with the encouragement of his PE teacher Colin Lyons.

During the year, Dylan enjoyed competing in the Fermanagh Cross Country, E District and Ulster Finals in Mallusk.

He had enjoyed doing lots of football and fitness in his spare time but the lockdown came and with the shutdown of football and all outdoor sports and leisure facilities, Dylan found himself without any focus on sports.

Being an active person, Dylan needed to find another outlet of sport, so he gradually started building up his running from 5ks to 10ks to 15ks, but Dylan still felt he could achieve more.

He decided to focus on trying 21k, as his biggest ‘Lockdown running achievement’, and so one Sunday morning, he started out on the run and achieved it in 1 hour 52 mins.

Dylan is overall a very athletic person and having turned 12 at the end of May, he is very proud of his achievements.ts.
