On Saturday, Lady Captain Bernie McQuaid welcomed ladies on a bright sunny morning to compete for her prizes which were a beautiful array of her own paintings.

Despite very heavy rain on Friday, the course was in great shape and many thanks to greenkeepers Tim and Gerard for their continued hard work.

Apart from a few passing showers, the ladies got around dry and good scores were recorded.

Kitty Loughran was out in the first four ball of the 18 hole competition and emerged as overall winner with 41 points. Very well done Kitty.

Lady Captain thanked all involved in making her day special in such different circumstances.

She concluded by wishing Ryan McNelis all the very best wishes from the ladies branch on his upcoming trip to America.

Men’s Golf

There was a fundraiser for Ryan McNelis before he embarks on his golf scholarship to America in the middle of August.

It was well supported. Unfortunately Ryan couldn’t be there on the day but he sent a message to all members thanking them for their support, not just on Wednesday but at all times in the club as he progressed to be our lowest handicap golfer on -3.

Best wishes go with Ryan and I’m sure there will be more said about that at his presentation this Saturday night.

The winner of the competition was Chris McMenamin with 40 points, three ahead of John Donnelly in second who beat Paddy McGurk into third place on countback.

We have Daly’s Hardware sponsored competition on August 5 and the Mayfly Cup, sponsored by Noel Garrity on Saturday August 8.

Paul Kelly’s captain’s week starts on Monday August 10 and all details will be on the BRS system.

There is another presentation night this Saturday, August 8 when a backlog of four competitions will be cleared plus the Mayfly Cup played that day.

All relevant information was posted in a BRS email.
