Tempo v Teemore

Sunday August 30

in Kinawley, 4pm

Tempo and Teemore met at this stage in last year’s Senior Championship with Lorcan McStravick guiding the Maguire’s to a five point victory.

Personnel changes on both sides could possibly be the deciding factor on Sunday as Teemore welcome back the influential Eoin McManus who missed last year’s defeat through injury, while Tempo are without the services of experienced players such as Damian Kelly, Daryl Keenan and PJ Rogers.

Teemore are blazing a trail in Division Two, and McManus is hoping their winning form will continue at the weekend but he does not expect anything easy.

“I was disappointed to miss last year with injury. They give us a bit of a doing last year, Lorcan McStravick destroyed us and he will take a lot of watching again but I think it will be nice to get back at them and it will be a tight game.

“We have done most of our work in defence and once your defence is solid the attacking game looks after itself and we have plenty of boys who can do the scoring for us.

“They probably wanted to get us in the draw the most so I’d say they would be fancying their chances.”

Tempo’s Aidan Breen is wary of the threat posed by the Shamrocks and the returning McManus.

“We know them well from last year but they have Eoin McManus back this year. He was a big loss and he is in flying form and we are a new enough team as we have a few boys gone and couple of new boys coming in so it is going to be a tough one.”

The sides had differing league campaigns with Breen admitting it has not been the best of starts to life for new manager Pat McNabb.

“They are flying in Division Two whereas we haven’t got off to that strong of a start.

“We had a tough start away to Derrygonnelly and we were missing a few players.

“But everyone is getting on well and and it’s going as well as it could be for a new manager coming in in the middle of coronavirus and then everything shutting down wasn’t ideal.”

While Tempo have struggled, Teemore are unbeaten this year and McManus hopes his side will be able to continue that form on Sunday.

“We’ve tried to set out every game we’ve played to play at the highest level we can.

“If we could keep the level we can get to for 60 minutes we should be able to compete but I think they will be at a bit of a higher level and we will have to get up to speed fairly quick,” added McManus
