Derrygonnelly 0-10 Roslea 0-06

Derrygonnelly defeated Roslea by four points at Brewster Park tonight to set up a Quinn Building Products SFC semi-final clash with Kinawley.

This was a war of attrition for long periods with the sides locked together at 0-04 apiece at the break before Roslea edged ahead early in the second half.

Indeed, it took Derrygonnelly 17 minutes to register in the second half but the longer the half went on the harder the Shamrocks found it to get out of their own half and a Gary McKenna free finally put them in front with eight minutes left to play before they pushed on for the win.

This was a battle from the outset with never more than a point between the sides until the closing stages.

Micheál Glynn, Gary McKenna, Ryan Jones and Shane McGullion all fired over for the Harps while Sean Quigley knocked over two points for Roslea, the second of which a good goal chance that was saved by Jack Kelly in the Harps goal. James McMahon and Niall Cosgrove also tagged on points for Roslea in the opening half.

Quigley edged the Shamrocks ahead six minutes into the second half and they fought hard to keep Derrygonnelly out after that.

However, Derrygonnelly pinned Roslea back as the Shamrocks struggled to break out of defence and eventually they were able to grind down a resilient Roslea.

Garvan Jones landed a free to level things in the 47th minute before Roslea then lost Peter Lynch to a black card after he pulled down Ryan Jones.

And with the extra man Derrygonnelly were able to push on as Gary McKenna and Ryan Jones notched points to put them two in front.

Quigley answered with a  monster free to leave the minimum between the sides but in the closing stages Stephen McGullion (2) and Garvan Jones grabbed scores to send the Harps through.
