The NIFL Championship season looks set to be declared null and void following a vote of the 12 clubs on Monday night.

The NIFL Championship will now request that the NIFL Board cancel the campaign.

Ballinamallard were one of the clubs who were keen to get the season started provided that a 22-game season could be played but clubs felt that this would not be possible.

The Championship clubs have seen a number of provisional start dates come and go and with Championship clubs having not been granted elite status it meant that they were unable to play during the current Covid-19 restrictions.

It is understood that clubs are to consider a regional competition involving Championship and Premier Intermeidate clubs that would act as a warm up for the Irish Cup.
