Fermanagh Manager Ryan McMenamin has confirmed that Chris Snow has rejoined the squad to provide competition to young keepers, Sean McNally and Ferghal Quinn.

Snow, who returns after a number of years away from the set-up, was in superb form for Ederney as they got their hands on the New York Cup last year, and McMenamin feels that the experience he brings will also be important.

“He had a great year with Ederney last year so we gave him a shout and Chris was more than happy to come in.

“The way we look at it is that Chris is in here to challenge, and he also adds that wee bit of experience as the two keepers, Sean and Ferghal, are both young.

“It is good to have that experience and we are looking forward to working with him whenever we can get back training,” said McMenamin.

However, the Erne boss has lost young Derrygonnelly attacker Micheál Glynn, who joined Derry City ahead of the new League of Ireland season.

McMenamin accepts that with no start date or any concrete plans yet for the GAA season, it was too good an opportunity for Glynn to pass up.

“It was a good opportunity, and hopefully it works out for him. There is no doubt that Micheál will be a loss to us, and a loss to Derrygonnelly; maybe if we had been up and playing, it would have been a tougher decision for him. and maybe it’s one we have lost due to Covid, but we wish him all the best – he is more than capable of it,” he said.

It is hoped that the GAA will get the nod to return to training early next month, and McMenamin says that when they do that, he will cast his eye over the provisional squad before trimming it down.

“We’ll take a look at it when we get back out on the pitch, to run the eyes over the boys, and then we will make decisions on the squad,” he stated.
