On another day made for golf, Neil Love scooped his first ‘major’ on Saturday at Enniskillen Golf Club in the guise of the Jim O’Kane’s 2021 President’s Prize.

After a shaky start the 24 handicapper got things going with a tidy run of pars and came off the front nine with 22 points. Unlike many before him he retained his concentration on the back nine and added another 19 points for a 41 point total to snatch victory on the better back nine from Blain Curran.

Eighteen handicapper Curran was in tremendous form around ‘the hill’ bagging a brace of birdies on four and eight to come off the ninth green with 23 points. But Curran’s day was a tale of two halves as he lost some momentum on the back and could only muster another 18 points on the inward nine for his 41 point total.

Three players finished one off the top score with 40 points – Eugene Donohoe, Liam Williamson and Matthew Doran. Off the three it was seasoned golfer and epitome of consistency Liam Williamson who snuck into third place for his second podium in a month. The 22 handicapper had a steady 20 points on the front nine and 21 points on the back nine to see off Doran on a countback. Doran had got himself into a great position after birdies on 11 and 13 but frittered three costly shots away over the home straight.

With a two over par 73 the impressive Andy Mowat won the gross. The two handicapper went out in level par and came home in two over.

Eugene Donohoe got the front nine prize with 23 points and Joshua Lee the back nine with 22 points

The top lady on the day was Sandra McElroy with an excellent 39 points just beating Irene Bownes by a point with Deidre McSorley in third.

Margaret Morrison lifted the Past President’s trophy with 38 points while Doreen Cathcart’s 20 points took the front nine and Martina McCaffrey’s 21 points took the back nine.
