ENNISKILLEN Royal Boat Club will host its first ever Fours Head of the River on Saturday with a competitive field of 42 Women’s crews and 46 Men’s crews set to race down the Lough Erne course.
Indeed, this will be the first race on Lough Erne since March, 2019, when Covid-19 restrictions pretty much cancelled the rowing calendar.
The women’s crews will compete for the Amanda McManus Cup, in memory of the former Enniskillen Royal Grammar School teacher who passed away in May.
The men’s crews will race for the John Mills Cup, in memory of the former headmaster at Gloucester House.
Racing commences from above the Killyhevlin Hotel starting point before winding down the 6km course to finish at the Boat Club.
The women’s crews will get the action under way at 10.30am, and the men’s crews will set off from 1pm. The rowing action will be visible from all the usual vantage points.
Prize-giving will take place at 2.30pm at the Boat Club.
The Enniskillen crews to look out for in the second race are boat numbers 56, 63, 70, 91, 94, 95 and 96.
