Enniskillen Rangers have appointed former manager Michael Kerr as Director of Football.

Kerr stepped down from the manager's position at the club earlier this season after enjoying big success in the hot seat, including leading the Ball Range club to three successive Junior Cup titles.

His new role at the club will see Kerr support and work closely with the managers of all senior and youth teams and oversee the progress of those teams in terms of coaching, training and results. He will be particularly focused on liaising closely with the club's youth section in order to provide continuity with the senior club and to develop and promote youth players and bridge the gap between the Youth Academy and senior football.

Kerr is looking forward to the new role.

"It is something totally new, Rangers are always striving to be better and if we can get an extra one or two percent from me doing this job then it will be beneficial.

"The way I look at it is the same as when I was manager, I want the club, when I leave this role, to be in better position than when I started," he said.

In terms of his role, Kerr added: "When I was the manager I approached the club and said that we needed an U17 or U19 team as we were losing players after U15s and the club now has both these. We needed something to fill the gap and my role will be to try and develop three, four, five players each season to come into the senior sides, be that reserve or first team. My big emphasis will be to promote youth lads into senior football and I think in creating this role it is another positive move by the club who are always looking forward."

Enniskillen Rangers Chairman John Ross Armstrong is delighted to have appointed Kerr in the role.

"Michael is the ideal person to take on this challenge," said Armstrong. "He has already brought unprecedented success to the club as first team manager and with his wealth of experience at all levels of football in the Fermanagh and Western and eyond, he can ensure that Enniskillen Rangers will go from strength to strength."
