Johnny Cassidy v Darren McCurry

McCurry has grown into Tyrone’s go-to forward over the past year or so.

His performances in the run to the All Ireland last year were outstanding and resulted in him earning his first All Star award.

He is capable of winning his own ball, he’s quick and has a real eye for a score, so Fermanagh will know the importance of limiting his influence.

Cassidy, who has been Fermanagh’s main man marker in recent years, is likely to be the man tasked with the job of curbing McCurry, and he has many of the attributes needed for the task in hand.

The Enniskillen man is quick, strong and aggressive in the tackle, but he is going to need help from others as well, while Fermanagh will also look to restrict the ball coming into the full forward line.

Sean Quigley v Ronan McNamee

Quigley seems to have had a new lease of life this year under new Manager Donnelly, and without doubt he is Fermanagh’s main source of scores.

Quigley top scored for Fermanagh in the league, scoring 4-30, and the Ernemen would love for him to add to that goal tally in particular on Saturday.

The Roslea man’s vision and passing ability is another key attribute and Tyrone will feel that if they can curtail his influence, then it will go a long way to winning the game.

McNamee is one of the best full backs in the business and, having returned to full fitness towards the end of the league, will be a big player for the Red Hands.

He is good in the air, physically strong and covers the ground well, so the key for Fermanagh will be to ensure that they can get enough ball into the full forward’s hands.

Ryan Jones/Brandon Horan v Conn Kilpatrick/Brian Kennedy

Midfield, as always, is crucial and last year Kilpatrick and Kennedy were immense in driving Tyrone on to win Sam.

Both are good in the air and are mobile and athletic, and give the Red Hands that solid platform in the middle third.

With Eoin Donnelly’s retirement, Ryan Jones will shoulder the responsibility of being the Erne leader in the middle of the park, and the Derrygonnelly midfielder showed during the year that he is capable of pushing on and adding scores from midfield.

Alongside him is likely to be Brandon Horan, who will be hoping to make his mark in championship football, having finally got a run of games after a year of being dogged with injuries.

It will be vital that Fermanagh get their hands on their fair share of ball in the middle third if they are to compete on Saturday.
