It has been a great week for Enniskillen’s flying Ulster winger Robert Baloucoune as he followed up his hat-trick in a Man of the Match display in the win over Toulouse by putting pen to paper on a new three-year contract extension with Ulster.

The deal sees Baloucoune commit his future to the province until at least the summer of 2025, and he says that he is delighted to have extended his deal.

“I’m delighted to have extended my contract with Ulster for three more years.

“I’ve really enjoyed the journey so far alongside a great group of lads, and I’m excited to be part of this team as we continue to grow together.”

‘Exceptional talent’

Ulster Head Coach, Dan McFarland, said: “Rob is an exceptional talent, and it’s fantastic that a player of his calibre has committed their future to our province.

“Not only does he possess devastating pace, with the ability to score tries from anywhere, but he is also a superb defender, as he showcased against Toulouse.

“I’m looking forward to what Rob will deliver in the Ulster jersey over the coming seasons.”

Following a stint with the Ireland Sevens programme, Enniskillen-born winger Baloucoune quickly made his presence in the Ulster Senior squad felt following his debut in October, 2018, with try-scoring contributions against the likes of Munster, Leicester, and Racing 92.

The 24-year-old earned a Development contract for the 2019-20 season, before being upgraded to a Senior contract the following year.

A prolific try-scorer, who is equally impressive in defence, Baloucoune has already crossed the whitewash nine times in this season’s United Rugby Championship and Heineken Champions Cup campaigns, with three added to the tally in the recent HCC Round of 16 first leg game.

His impressive performances for Ulster also led to a call-up for Ireland and his international debut last July, in which he scored a sensational solo try versus USA.
