Ultan Kelm has returned to the Fermanagh squad with manager Kieran Donnelly having made a number of additions to his playing panel as they get down to preparations for the forthcoming Tailteann Cup which commences at the end of May.

Kelm had been set to join AFL side Fremantle Dockers as a rookie for the 2022 season but injury has postponed that for the Erne Gaels players.

Kelm’s pace, power and athleticism saw him make a big impact for Fermanagh back in 2019 under Rory Gallagher although injuries have curtailed his progress over the last couple of seasons.

However, he has returned to fitness and his inclusion for the remainder of the season for the Ernemen is a major boost for Donnelly and his management team as they look to make their mark on the inaugural Tailteann Cup.

Donnelly has also called up U20 trio Diarmaid King, Fionan O’Brien and Justy McDade.

All four of the additions trained on Tuesday night when the squad met up for the first time since the defeat to Tyrone in the Ulster Championship.

Donnelly though will be without Derrygonnelly’s Gary McKenna for the competition with the forward informing the management that he was withdrawing from the squad. It is understood that McKenna is going travelling.

Fermanagh backroom team member Ger Treacy said that they are delighted to have Kelm back on board.

“It is great to have Ultan back involved and part of the squad moving forward.

“We have also brought in Diarmaid, Fionan and Justy from the U20s and based on what we have seen from them to date, they will fit in really well with the squad,” he added.
