Almost 70 junior rowers from Enniskillen Royal Boat Club travelled to O’Brien’s Bridge, Limerick last Saturday to compete in Limerick Regatta, and they were delighted to return home with six sets of medals.

The first win of the day came from the WJ14 4x+ crew of Natalie Turner, Jessica Kingston, Jessica Thompson, Isabella Wright and cox Abbey Wilson, with a great win over Neptune RC.

There were wins for two of the MJ14 4X+ crews in straight finals.

Evan Donaghy, Luke Bailey, Eoghan Campbell, Ethan Downey and cox Katelyn Fee overcame the challenge from Clonmel RC, while Dara McMurray-Taylor, Harley Sheppard, Ben Cameron, Oliver Mooney and cox Jamie Dunlop took the win over Muckross RC.

The boys’ J15 Octo had a brilliant win over Commercial RC in a very exciting race – the crew of Joe Murphy, Justin Smith, George Kernaghan, Andrew Cuthbertson, Ryan Topping, Hugo McChesney, Austin Cassidy, Christian Timoney and cox William Bogle were delighted to cross the finish line first after the one-kilometre race.

Isabella Wright, Natalie Turner, Abbey Johnston, Jessica Thompson, Jessica Kingston, Tori Davis, Andrea Blake, Mya Morris and Abbey Wilson took the win in the WJ14 8X+ over St. Michael’s RC.

The last win of the day came from MJ14 8X+ with the crew, Cillian Donaghy, Evan Donaghy, Luke Bailey, Joshua Inhat, Ethan Downey, Jamie Dunlop, Eoghan Campbell and cox Daniel Montgomery overcoming St. Joseph’s RC.

There were also second-place finishes for five of ERBC’s crews and lots of great racing experience gained by all the rowers.

This weekend sees the senior rowers heading to the National Rowing Centre in Cork to compete at Skibbereen Regatta while the juniors travel to race at Portadown Regatta.

This is an extremely busy few months for all the rowers at ERBC with less than three months to go until Henley Womens and Henley Royal Regattas and the Irish Championships.
