Enniskillen Royal Boat Club’s girls had a very successful trip to Henley Women’s Regatta last weekend, finishing in the top eight crews in the Peabody Cup.
They finished 12th out of 21 crews in the time trial on Saturday morning before taking on Green Lake Crew from USA on Sunday morning and crossed the finish line first after leading from the start.
The crew of Niamh Campbell, Laura Turner, Acorn Cassidy, Katie Donnelly, Aine McCaffrey, Chloe Thompson, Martha McBrien, Rachel Cullinan and cox Grace Ralph had a tough quarter-final race against the girls from St Edward’s School on Saturday afternoon and despite a great effort and a great race they were unable to catch the Teddies girls.
Head of Rowing at ERBC, Derek Holland said:
“They are committed young women who don’t make excuses or run away from challenges.
“They have put themselves out there consistently against top international crews, they gained invaluable racing experience over the Henley course and we are looking forward to competing at Henley Royal Regatta next week.”
