Two Fermanagh athletes performed with great distinction as they represented the Irish Schools athletics team at the Schools International Track and Field meet at the Mary Peters Track on Saturday.

Indeed, there was medal glory for Enniskillen Royal Grammar School’s Annabel Morrison who secured bronze in the Girls’ 3000m coming home third behind two very experienced English competitors.

This was a mature performance from Annabel who controlled the chasing pack and in an exciting sprint for the line, the Enniskillen girl held off Millie Gold from Wales to claim a superb bronze.

St. Michael’s College student Frank Buchanan also did superbly to run a personal best of four minutes 5.27 seconds and take sixth place in the Boys’ 1500m.

All in all, two superb runs from the talented duo who will be underage next year for these events and these performances allied with greater experience is sure to have them competing at the very top end once more
