Ballinamallard 2014s capped a successful week for them by bringing home the U8 Rosebowl from the Foyle Cup.

The final, played at the Brandywell on Friday, was a tight affair right through to the final whistle which seen jubilant celebrations for the Fermanagh boys.

The Ducks took the lead in the first half when Zach Fulton burst through on goal and whilst his first shot was saved well by the Strabane goalkeeper, he scored an instinctive rebound with his left foot.

Pearse Cassidy then netted a second after the interval to extend the lead when he pounced on an overhead ball and calmly placed the ball in to the bottom right corner.

Strabane came back in the game however and scored from a corner to make it 2-1 which left for an open finish to the game.

However in the final minutes Zach Fulton scored a wonderful free kick to seal a 3-1 victory and claim the Rosebowl.

Donal Lynch put in an impressive captain’s performance in defence, not missing a ball the whole match and his partner on the day, Kaiden Anderson, was also a rock at the back.

Between the sticks Calum Curran pulled off some exceptional saves at crucial times for his team while Cahir McManus, Cian Gormley, Finn Coyle, Gavin Og Connolly and Charlie McSorley were instrumental in the quarter and semi finals, helping their team get to the final and they can be proud of their performances all week.
