The first ever shared President's Day event hosted by Noel McIntyre took place at Castle Hume on Saturday August 13.

With a great turnout of members and guests, the course delivered a memorable day and did not disappoint in its appearance or condition.

John 'Scooter' Southam was to make history on Saturday as he delivered one of his best rounds ever to record a winning score of 45 points and take the President's Day Prize. The 25 handicap golfer was in superb form as he produced a number of outstanding shots both from the fairways and tees to set up a great short game display. A stunning round of golf that will be remembered for a long time.

In the Mens Category, Barry McCauley delivered a fantastic round of golf with a flawless display of brilliance to record 44 Stableford points.

The single handicap golfer has been in superb winning form recently and loving the big stage, he was completely focused. With all elements of his game proving totally reliable, he scored with ease to take a well deserved podium finish.

In runner up spot and making the most of the perfect conditions was Graham Veitch. The Castle Hume player has been focused in recent weeks on his Pierce Purcell Team progress but he delivered one of his most solid performances to record a score of 43 points.

Completing the podium and showing all the class that has been with him for years was Douglas Hutton. A resurgent Douglas has been playing some wonderful golf in recent weeks and this high class display recording 41 points was yet another string to his already talented bow.

In the Gross Category, the incredible Danny Daly recorded yet another win with 37 points. The plus handicap golfer has dominated this category all year and continues to play at an exceptional level.

In the Ladies Category, Mary Fee was victorious with a great score of 44 points.

In runner up spot with a score of 41 points was Rosie Treacy and Mary Sloan completed the podium with 40 points.

In the Gross Category, Julie Blair was the winner with a score of 27 points.

The Letterbreen Spar sponsored Competition at Castle Hume was played in glorious sunshine all week and delivered another first time winner this year.

A sparkling 45 points from Neal Graham including two birdies and eight pars saw the Castle Hume star take to the podium to celebrate a memorable performance.

In runner up spot and continuing his recent impressive performances was David McQuade with 43 points.

Completing the podium was Seamus Brady with 42 points.

In the Gross Category, Danny Daly was again dominant with a stunning performance of 39 points. The lowest handicap golfer in the Club, Danny has delivered a display of golf at a higher level and has been very impressive all year.

In the Senior Category, Tom Grimsley produced a fantastic round of 40 points to claim another victory.
