Enniskillen Athletic 0 Lisbellaw Utd 3

Lisbellaw made it three wins on the trot as first half goals from Scott Moutray, Richard Woods and Paul Elliott secured the points for Kyle McCleery’s charges against Enniskillen Athletic at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday.

“It was another good performance and result, we were three up at half time and to be honest it could have been more,” said McCleery, who continued: “The second half was less eventful but I felt we were still in control.

“I thought we were fairly dominant over the 90 minutes.

“We knew Athletic were coming into the game on the back off two good results but they were missing a few players so maybe it was a good time to play them and we kept the intensity high.

“We were really happy with the win.” added McCleery.

Lisbellaw began the contest well and there was no great surprise when, with nine minutes gone, they took the lead. A Paul Elliott cross from a free kick was not fully cleared and Moutray met it on the half volley to rifle home the opener.

Lisbellaw remained in the ascendancy and Philip Beacom went close to doubling their lead when he got on the end of Mountray corner but his glancing header was just over the bar.

The visitors though continued to probe and eventually the second goal did arrive.

Sam Lindsay played the ball to the back post and Woods took it down before firing to the roof of the net from close range.

The chances kept coming for the home side with Moutray swivelling and shooting narrowly wide after good play by Aaron Lindsay, Elliott and Woods.

And a minute later they grabbed their third as Moutray and Woods combined to tee up Elliott who side footed home at the back post to make it 3-0.

Athletic did have a chance to cut the deficit late in the half when the ball broke to John Joe Strain 22 yards out and he bent a lovely effort that just shaved the post as it remained 3-0 at the interval.

There was less in the way of clear cut chances in the second half.

Woods did have an opportunity to grab his second with an shot across thwe goal but Ryan McNulty in the Athletic goal got an outstretched stud to the ball to turn it around the post.

Substitute David Freeman almost made an instant impact on his debut for Lisbellaw when with his first touch he burst into the box and his second touch got his shot away but he dragged it just wide.

At the other end Callum Frempong then beat the offside trap to run through one on one with the Lisbellaw goalkeeper but he scuffed his effort as the game finished in a comfortable 3-0 win for the visitors.

Next up for Lisbellaw is a home game against Mountjoy and McCleery is hooping that they can contnue their excellent run of form.

“Mountjoy got their first win last week and they have been there or thereabouts in each of their games so we won’t be underestimating them in any way.

“But, we are coming into the game on a good run with three wins in a row and we are at home so hopefully we can push on and keep the momentum that we have built up going,” he said.
