HW Welders 0 Ballinamallard United 1

Ballinamallard climbed up to fifth place in the Lough 41 Championship table as BJ Banda's second half strike made it back to back league wins for Harry McConkey's charges at HW Welders last night.

The Ducks had began the game well with Josh McIlwaine hitting the Welders post with a header after only two minutes.

At the other end Mallards goalkeeper Michael Lynch made a good stop from a free kick as it remained 0-0 at the break.

The woodwork again denied the visitors in the opening stages of the second half as Banda's cracking effort rattled the bar although Shane McGinty twice had to clear off the Mallards line inside seconds to keep the home side out.

The opener though arrived soon after as Banda slotted home after good work by McIlwaine.

The Welders did threaten an equaliser late on with a deflected header hitting the bar but the Mallards held on to pick up the points.

Next up for Ballinamallard is an away game against Knockbreda next Saturday.
