Striker BJ Banda has left Ballinamallard United to join Premiership leaders Larne.

Banda spent a season and a half at Ferney Park, scoring 21 goals last season while he also scored both the Mallards goals in the 2-2 draw with Dergview on Boxing Day.

The 24 year old formerly played for Finn Harps and made a big impression on his arrival at Ballinamallard.

The Mallards wished the forward well on his move.

"We wish BJ well with the current Premiership league leaders and hoping that his football career flourishes."

Larne manager Tiernan Lynch is delighted to take the player to Inver Park.

“We are very pleased to bring BJ to the club, having kept a close eye on him for a while.

“He has done well in the Championship, and since he’s trained with us he hasn’t looked out of place.

“It’s obviously a step-up to the Premiership, but he is a player hungry to learn and develop.

“Despite his young age he has good experience under his belt and we’re looking forward to him giving us a different option.”
