Enniskillen Rangers 4 Ardstraw 0

Mark Cutler bagged a hat-trick as Enniskillen Rangers eased their way into the last eight of the Mulhern Cup with a 4-0 win over Ardstraw at the Ball Range on Saturday.

Jamie Robinson opened the scoring for the holders before Cutler doubled their lead by the break. And he added a further two in the second half to put Michael Kerr’s charges in the hat for the quarter final draw.

“It was a convincing win; from start to finish we were the better team,” said Kerr.

“I thought it was a professional performance, and it was all about the boys having the right attitude – which they did.

“It was also a good response to the defeat the week before.”

Rangers were in control from the outset and with 15 minutes gone they took the lead as Jake Browne released Jamie Robinson and he finished low to the goalkeeper’s right-hand side to make it 1-0.

And it was two soon after as Cutler netted his first of the day. The attacker showed bravery to head the ball past the goalkeeper after it broke in the box before then tapping into the empty net.

The second half continued in the same pattern with Cutler making it 3-0 as he skipped his way past a couple of defenders from the right-hand side before tucking home.

The ’Gers suffered a blow shortly after when they lost Robinson to a hamstring injury, which Kerr will be hoping is not too serious.

And Cutler went on to complete his hat-trick when he fired home as Rangers ran out 4-0 winners.

Rangers are back in action this Saturday when they face Killen in the league, and Kerr may use it to experiment with Rangers out of the running for the title.

“We want to keep winning but also we want try and get a couple of younger lads integrated into the squad,” he said.
