Club Eirne chairman Ger Treacy has urged people to make one final push with the draw for a house in Drumgarrow Village to take place on Easter Monday night.

The huge fundraiser is to help with the development of the facilities at the Fermanagh GAA training centre at Lissan and Treacy stresses that it is a once in a generation initiative that they have undertaken.

“We have just a few days left so it is now a very important time to ensure that we maximise this initiative because as we have maintained all along, this is an initiative that will benefit the current and future generations for many decades to come.

“We therefore need this next few days to be very fruitful for us to help us achieve what we set out to achieve,” said Ger.

By Monday evening ticket sales sat at 6,500 of the 12,000 target but Treacy is confident that they will achieve their aim having studied patterns in other similar draws.

“When you look at how other draws in other counties have done, you will see that there is a serious push in the last five or six days or so - and particularly in the last day or two - so we are confident.

“We have done our projections and projections for the last two weeks have been pretty accurate so we are where we anticipated to be in terms of our online sales and we would expect they will increase significantly over the few days,” he explained.

However, he is keen for the clubs to hit the target they were set at the outset and feels that this is key to hitting their overall goal.

“As I stated at the start of the draw, we need the clubs to come in with a minimum of 6,000 sales that we targeted for them and if that happens and our colleagues at Club Eirne USA deliver what we discussed with them then that gives us a very good chance of reaching our target of 12,000 sales. Remember clubs will get a 25 per cent return on all their sales.

“So there is still work for the clubs to do and we can only give one final appeal to the clubs to give this every last ounce of energy over the remaiing days.

“Everybody across the county and further afield has a part to play whether it is encouraging sales or making a purchase,” he said.

So, how are the nerves holding up? “It’s definitely not good for the nerves, I’ll put it like this, it is not an initiative I would like to go through on an annual basis,” he laughed.

“Look, we always knew this would be the case. We have had to hold our nerve and hope that what we have seen with other similar initiatives happens with ours but it is fraught with uncertainty in terms of the sales that come in online.

“You are looking to promote it on social media and hope that people see it as a very attractive prize and will purchase.”

The draw will take place at an event on Monday night in the Westville Hotel which will include a pre-Championship Chat Show before the winner of the big prize is announced.

“We will hopefully have a big celebration night in the Westville Hotel next Monday night.

“It will start about 8pm and we will have a pre championship Chat Show and we’ll have some high profile names to attend that which will also be broadcast live on Fermanagh GAA facebook page.

“The night will then culminate with the draw for the house so I would appeal to anybody in the county who is interested in being there or who wants a night out to come along.”

And he advises anybody who has bought a ticket to have their phone switched on on Monday night. “I would say about 10.30pm or 11pm next Monday night somebody will get a phone call to advise them that they have won a £300, 000 house in Enniskillen. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful phone call to get on Easter Monday night!”
