Enniskillen Rangers 3 Dergview Reserves 0

Enniskillen Rangers eased their way to the points at the Ball Range on Saturday as goals from Mark Cutler, Joel Byrne and Jason Cluff saw them secure a 3-0 win over Dergview Reserves.

It was a game that had concerned ‘Gers boss Michael Kerr in the lead up as they had a number of players missing but he was delighted with the performance of his side over the duration of the contest.

“I was worried about the game because we were down some bodies for it but I have to say it was a very pleasing performance and result. I was most pleased with the fact that it was a consistent display over the 90 minutes which is something that we have been looking for,” he said.

Rangers now have four away games left in the league but with the ‘Gers out of the title picture Kerr stresses that it is all about being ready for their Mulhern Cup semi-final clash with neighbours Enniskillen Town at the end of the month.

“We have Mountfield and Athletic this week and it is a balance between trying to keep winning games and giving boys game time.

“Our eyes are completely on the Mulhern Cup, that’s our whole focus and we want to stay injury free for that,” he added.

Cutler opened the scoring for the home side after a great move. Nathan Khan, Connor Rippey and Jason Keenan were all involved before Cutler poked home to make it 1-0.

Dergview did have a chance early in the second half but Rangers goalkeeper Luke Johnston pulled off a good save before Rippey turned the ball behind with an attacker ready to pounce.

It was Rangers though who would go on to make it 2-0 through Byrne, who caused the visitors all sorts of problems in the second half. He latched on to a short back pass by Dale Maxwell before rounding goalkeeper Dylan Deery and tucking into the net.

And ten minutes later the home side wrapped up the points as a quick throw from Matthew Chambers found substitute Cluff and he expertly lobbed the ball over Deery to the net to leave it 3-0.
