Competitive action for senior teams gets underway this weekend as the Club Players’ Competition begins.

It is a chance for teams to pick up points to bring into the Senior League in June and also test the strength of some squads who will be without their county contingent for the competition.

In Division One and Division Two the teams are split into two groups of five and after four games corresponding teams will then play a final game to see how many points they will take into the Senior Leagues.

First in Groups A and B will play for three points, with the loser carrying forward two points.

Second in each group will play for two points with the loser carrying forward one point. This is the same for the teams that finish third in their groups. Teams that finish fourth and fifth will play for one point with the losers heading into the league with no points.

In Division One, Group A will see Belnaleck host Derrygonnelly while Irvinestown welcome St. Pat’s, Donagh.

First competitive game

It will be Nigel Seaney’s first competitive game in charge of the Art McMurroughs and without the likes of the Cullens, Che and Lee, and Darragh McGurn he will get a good chance to run his eye over the squad against a Derrygonnelly side which is managed once again by Sean Flanagan.

The Harps will also be tested with their strength in depth as they have seven players involved in the county.

For Belnaleck, the likes of Kane Connor, Glenn Treacy, Garvan Quigley, Bryan Owens and Connor McAuley will be expected to lead while the Harps will have the experience of Michael Jones and Eamon McHugh to call on alongside Conor Burns and Ronan and Rian McGovern.

Irvinestown will be without Josh Largo-Elis for the visit of Donagh who have no county contingent.

In Group B, Belcoo welcome Kinawley who will be without Eoghan McManus.

The Borus have also lost a number of players from last year who are travelling but still boast plenty of quality.

With no county players, Belcoo will be hoping to make a strong start to the competition following promotion.

In the other group game, Ederney take on Enniskillen Gaels.

Ederney will be without Declan McCusker and Conor McGee while the Gaels will have to make do without Brandon Horan, Johnny Cassidy and Conor McShea.

Sean Cassidy who was part of the Fermanagh squad earlier in the year but left the panel will be a boost for Ederney.

In Division Two, Group A will see Lisnaskea will take on Coa while relegated Devenish get underway at home to Aghadrumsee.

Justy McDade and Eoin McCabe will be leading lights for the Emmetts while Gary Lynch will call on the likes of Caoilte and Oisin Farry as well as Jason Farry for Coa.

Devenish, with only Fionan O’Brien in the county squad, should be strong with experienced head Barry Mulrone alongside JJ O’Brien and Jamie Flanagan while Aghadrumsee’s challenge will be led by Eddie Courtney, Eugene Kearns and Eoghan McCabe.

While in Group B, Tempo host Teemore and Brookeborough face Roslea.

Tempo will have to do without Aidan Breen for the competition while Teemore’s Cian McManus, Ronan McCaffrey and Sean McNally are all unavailable.

Tempo will be looking to the likes of Tiarnan Bogue, Oisin Murphy and Ryan Breen while for Teemore Eoin McManus, Paul Doherty and Colm McNally are key players.

Roslea will play their first five games without talisman Sean Quigley while Brookeborough will be able to choose froma full squad as they hjave no player on the couty squad.

All games are scheduled to start at 1pm on Sunday, April 23.
