On Wednesday, May 17, Maguiresbridge Primary School hosted a girls’ football tournament at Hunter’s Field, Maguiresbridge.
A spokesperson for Maguiresbridge PS said: “It was terrific to see so much interest in this event as nine local schools entered teams. There was great talent and a determination to win on display from all the girls.
“After exciting group matches and play off matches, many of which resulted in penalty shoot-outs, the two teams who reached the final were Lisbellaw Primary School and St. Mary’s Primary School, Newtownbutler. The proud winners were Lisbellaw Primary School. They were presented with the Maguiresbridge Shield and gold medals. The runners-up received silver medals.”
Thanking all of those who participated, a spokesperson for Maguirebridge PS said; “Well done to all the girls who played in the tournament.
For many of the girls, this was their first tournament playing football and we hope they continue to play football when they transfer to their new post primary school.”
