Enniskillen Gaels 1-10 Kinawley 0-12

Enniskillen Gaels picked up their first win of the season with a one-point victory over Kinawley in Brewster Park.

The returning John Reihill bagged 1-03 including a goal in the opening moment of the game as the Gaels bounced back from defeats to Ederney and Devenish.

Friday was Kinawley’s first defeat in 1B of the Club Players' Competition after wins against Derrylin and Devenish.

Enniskillen manager Simon Bradley said after the game: “It’s very hard for us to judge it with so many players missing, but we were very pleased compared to our previous outing where we conceded nine goals.

"We went from conceding nine goals to conceding no goals, so, from that point of view it was a much better performance.

"It’s about giving players an opportunity to play at a level that they probably wouldn’t get for another year or two. So, in that sense, it's certainly bringing on those younger players very quickly.”

The hosts made the ideal start as John Reihill bagged a goal for the first score of the game.

Paddy Reihill cut in from the right-hand side towards goal and his shot was saved before John Reihill tapped home.

Both Reihill’s and Paddy O’Donnell also added points while Kinawley hit back through four Sean McManus points and strikes from Sean McManus and Paudi Drumm.

They ended the half with two points via Ciaran Breen to leave the sides level at halftime with a scoreline of 1-05 to 0-08.

Enniskillen managed to edge further away from their counterparts in the second half as points from John Reihill, O’Donnell, Ethan Beresford and Jamie Steele outweighed a Sean McManus free and points from play from Aaron Reilly and Ruairi Corrigan (2) for the visiting side.

Enniskillen face Derrylin in their final fixture this weekend while Kinawley host Ederney at Patrick McManus Park.
