It has been a busy week for Enniskillen Running Club junior athlete Edel Monaghan.
Last Saturday she competed for the Ulster U20 team in the Celtic Games International cross country races held in Holyrood Park Edinburgh. There she had a great run to come ninth overall and among the top Irish finishers. While last Saturday at the annual IAAF Antrim International Cross Country held at Greenmount Campus in Antrim, Edel had another superb run for second place in the U17 race.
Some other ERC juniors competed in the high quality underage fields. Young Aoife Farrell toed the line in the U15 girl’s race and had a great run with a terrific finish to come in 12th position.
Together with a number of Rio hopefuls in the senior men’s race; Conan McCaughey had a strong performance for a top 20 finish and third Ulster man home. This will give the Enniskillen man lots of confidence as he targets the Ulster Intermediate cross country race in two weeks time.
