The Clogher Valley Outdoor Bowling Federation ended their season of outdoor bowling after a very successful and enjoyable five months play. The club missed out on the jewel in the crown, the Border Counties League Outdoor title by just a single point, so near and yet so far. The success of the club was mainly down to having a choice of 40 members with the majority of these participating in the four months league fixtures.

During the season the Fivemiletown based club held several competitive club tournaments, with the standard of play at a high standard and a place in the Champion of Champions competitions on offer for the eventual winners.

The winners were as follows: The William Lee Memorial Cup Rinks: Maria McKibben, Nigel Benson, Maurice Malone, Ernie Clarke skip. Maurice and Nigel were unavailable to represent the club in the Champion Of Champions and were replaced by Noel Clarke and Harold Nelson and along with Ernie and Maria collected the winners title at this event.

The Burrell Cup Pairs: Ken Givans, Blayney Cartwright Skip.

The Taylor Cup Singles: Maurice Malone.

The Zoe Mulligan Memorial Cup: Frances Cartwright.

The President of the Club Blayney Cartwright would like to congratulate all the winners in this season’s competitions and thank them for participating.

During the season the club organised a competition each Monday evening with all members present participating throughout the four months.

The weekly winners were awarded points which were accumulated and prizes presented to the gents and ladies categories as follows: 1st Lady: Lorna Mitchell with 262 points.

2nd Lady: Frances Cartwright with 253 points.
