DESCRIBED as “a wee band with a massive sound” Hootin Annies combine a mix of bluegrass, traditional, jazz, rap and rock n’ roll with a hint of Celtic flare.
All the members of the band add their own flavour and showmanship on stage; the guitarist (who also plays piano, fiddle, melodica, accordion and Cajun drum) is cracking off jokes and out dancing with the crowd.
The lead singer provides a powerful and passionate vocal but the man at the back of the stage is the one who makes this three-piece band truly special, picking on his banjo so fast that if you look closely enough you can see sparks coming from his fingertips!
He is also playing a kick-drum and tambourine with his feet and blowing into a harmonica all at the same time!
Over the last year they have performed in pubs from the tip of Donegal to Belfast city.
They also played 3 nights at the very successful Fleadh in Derry.
They are performing live in Mahon’s Hotel this Saturday night at 10.30pm.
