There's many an exciting journey Graham Little has experienced in his lifetime but this latest one is probably the best one yet as the Enniskillen journalist and broadcaster has just become a daddy.

Graham's wife Claire gave birth to Christian Peter Patrick Little at the Mater Hospital, Belfast last Thursday July 23 via c-section.

It's the couple first baby since getting married at a beautiful ceremony in Castle Coole, Enniskillen, last August.

The first-time father said he's on top of the world. "It's a brilliant feeling and it incrementally gets better and better everyday. I've known about it for nine months obviously, so I've got myself well-prepared for the joys of fatherhood," he said.

When asked about the baby's weight a confused Graham said anywhere between 8lbs 2ounces and 9lb 3ounces.

"This is funny because when Christian was weighed first by the midwife, he weighed 8lbs 2 but when he was weighed three days later the scales must have been broken the first time round because the nurse said he was 8lb 11! Now, babies are supposed to lose 10 per cent of their body weight in the first week of being born so our baby actually gained half a stone in a week! I'm waiting for him to turn into the Incredible Hulk any day now!" he laughed.

Graham is currently filming a travel series for BBC and RTE and was in Iceland two days before Christian was born.

"I'm working on a TV programme called "Colin and Graham's World of Sport" to be screened in November and was in Iceland two days before our new arrival. Claire's due date was actually July 29 but they took her in early as the baby was in breach, so I was worried I may not have been back in Belfast but thankfully the wee man arrived in time so I was very relieved." Graham is heading off to India on August 10 to continue work on his programme and wants to spend as much time as possible with his beloved son before he jets away.

"I'm spending every hour of the day with him, I love it, it's great. I love being there for him, washing his clothes and changing his nappy. It's great to be able to do these things for your children. He's a great baby and very much a night baby, sleeps all day when everyone comes to visit him then he's wide awake when we're all looking to go to bed! But, I don't mind this because it means Claire can go to bed and get some rest and me and him can stay up and watch TV but personally, he is much better entertainment," he admits.

Graham's doting grandparents Melanie and Peter as well as his brothers and sister are said to be "over the moon" on the arrival of the first grandchild in the Little household.

"They are so delighted. Mum has been up that motorway more times and it's always great to see her. I remember she answered a Q&A for the paper a while back and the main ambition she said she had left to achieve was to be a grandmother and I remember getting loads of stick about this at the time from friends saying "the pressure's on", but I'm glad now she has fulfilled this. She even showed me a picture of when I was a baby and the resemblance between me and Christian is uncanny so she is pretty chuffed about that too, although it's a bit surreal calling my 20-year-old brother Andrew an uncle because he is so young, but they are all so happy to see their first ever nephew." Asked whether he hopes baby Christian will follow in his father's journalism footsteps or maybe a career in soccer like his uncle, Graham says, "who knows".

"Well, I'm sure he will develop some kind of interest in sport as both our families are mad about it but as long as he is interested in something it doesn't matter." Apart from playing daddy, Graham is working on the launch of his first book which is to be released at the end of September.

It chronicles Graham's one year global challenge in becoming a world champion in different types of sport in which he successfully completed his challenge by becoming a champion in the bizarre sport of Elephant Polo.

"I'm looking forward to seeing it in the shops. I finished the book in a hotel room in Bangkok two years ago and due to work commitments I never really found the time to publish it. But thankfully, I've seen the finished product for the first time, so in a way, I got two special deliveries last week, one by c-section and one by post, although I think Claire would have opted for her delivery by post as well," he laughed.

Graham's book "No Prior Experience: Adventures of a Wannabe World Champion" is soon-to-be launched in Belfast and will appear in all good book shops at the end of September.
