The 41-year-old driver of a car that crashed into a ditch on the Lough Shore Road near Enniskillen had been drinking, Fermanagh Court has heard.
Una Leonard, of Rosnarick Close, Derrygonnelly, was fined £200 and banned from driving for 12 months when she admitted driving with excess alcohol in her blood.
A prosecutor told the court that at 1.30am on Monday, April 21, police attended the scene of a single vehicle crash on the Lough Shore Road. They found a Ford Fiesta in a ditch at the side of the road and the driver, Leonard, being attended to by ambulance staff. She was taken to hospital. The police noticed the smell of alcohol from her. As she was still receiving medical treatment a sample of her blood was taken. On analysis it produced an alcohol reading of 132 - 52 in excess of the legal limit.
Defence solicitor Gary Smyth handed in a letter from Leonard’s GP setting out the medical position. He also submitted a character reference.
“She is going to be seriously inconvenienced by the loss of her licence,” he stated.
