A 26-year-old chicken farmer has told Fermanagh Court he only has a licence to drive a tractor.
Janis Eriksons, of Formil Road, Kesh, admitted that he did not have a licence, insurance nor vehicle test certificate for the Mazda 6 car he was driving on July 17.
He was fined £315 and banned from driving for three months.
A prosecutor told the court that on Thursday, July 17, police were on mobile patrol on the Wattlebridge Road at Newtownbutler when the Mazda 6 overtook them at speed. It appeared to be travelling in convoy with another vehicle. The officers stopped the Mazda and spoke to the driver, Eriksons, who was unable to produce a driving licence and insurance. The vehicle test certificate on the car was out of date.
Eriksons told the court a friend had bought the car and told him it was insured.
He said he was from Latvia and has been living in Northern Ireland for 10 months, working for Moy Park on a chicken farm.
Eriksons said he does not have a car and does not drive.
