The Western Trust's proposal to close a number of rural day care centres will be opposed in a motion brought before Fermanagh and Omagh District Council this evening.

Back in August, the Western Trust announced that it will go ahead with its shake-up of local day care centres and will implement changes by March 2016, despite local opposition.

The day care centres set to close are in Rosslea, Dromore and Gortin.

Tonight's motion, proposed by six Sinn Fein councillors from the affected areas, reads: "Fermanagh and Omagh District Council strongly opposes the Western Trust’s proposal to close day care facilities in Dromore, Gortin and Roslea. We believe that this decision will further marginalise isolated and vulnerable people and we call on the Western Trust to reverse this decision.”
